Zayd Alathari
Zayd is an artist and poet promoting creative expressions and self identity. His art and stories explore the essence of self, family, humanity, wellbeing, dignity, vulnerability, and freedom. Born in Baghdad, Iraq, Zayd's family left abruptly in 1980 after his father was released from political prison.
A time before the brutal regime of Saddam Hussein carried out mass assassinations.
Exiled in London, England, the family eventually ended up in Washington D.C. From his earlier years, Zayd frequently moved to various homes and schools.
Being racially different from the vast majority of others, Zayd never felt that he fit in anywhere. Eventually, the only commonality and sense of belonging that he could fit into were multicultural settings. He has spent most of his adult years traveling the world and now considers himself a global citizen.
